1986: Look What The Cat Dragged in

Luego de la ruptura de Paris, Matt Smith deja la banda ya que iba a ser padre.

La banda buscaba reemplazante, uno de los que se presento, fue Slash, que fue rechazado por el estilo bluesero al estilo Aerosmith, pero la banda quería mas bien algo más parecido a Van Halen. Entonces se presentó el polémico C.C. Deville que quedó inmediatamente por su forma y locura de tocar, que sería perfecto para la banda.

La banda iba en camino a la fama, teniendo gran éxito en el Sunset strip, y locales en Estados unidos, teniendo que soportar elogios y burlas por parte del público. Hasta que se les da la oportunidad de grabar su primer disco bajo Enigma Records.

El primer single Cry Tough no tuvo el éxito que se esperaba, a diferencia de sus otros singles Talk Dirty To Me, I Won't Forget You y I Want Action.

La banda tenía éxito y estaba en lo más alto de la fama en Estados Unidos, pero llegaría otro disco que lo subiría aún más con la siguiente entrega.

Pese a que el disco tuvo gran éxito, la mayor parte se lo llevó la emblemática balada Every Rose Has It's Thorn, que Bret la escribió cuando un día, él se encontraba en la lavandería, y de paso, llamó a su novia y cuando esta contesta, empieza a susurrar otro hombre y la mujer se ponia nerviosa hablando con Bret y a la vez haciendo callar al otro tipo. Entonces, Bret, enterado de la infidelidad de su novia, a diferencia de lo que harían muchos hombres, él escribió la balada especialmente para él, y sin pensar que esta balada sería el mayor éxito de la banda.

En este disco, además se encuentra mi favorita de la banda Fallen Angel, y recomendaría el himno fiestero Nothing But a Good Time y el cover a Loggins and Messina Your mama don't dance.

Los éxitos fueron Unskinny Bop, Life Goes On, Something To Believe in y Ride The Wind.

En 1991, las locuras de C.C. y sus adicciones, obligaron a despedirlo de la banda. Un claro ejemplo de eso, fue en MTV Music Awards en 1991, tras una pésima actuación C.C. Deville, y tras haberse caído la uñeta.
