1971: First Album

Los barbudos de ZZ Top comenzaron su carrera dispersados por parte de los miembros, Billy Gibbons que es el guitarrista comenzó en una (casi) famosa banda de Blues rock, Moving Sidewalks lo cual grabó un disco y tuvieron un éxito gracias al tema 99th Floor, este se unió con los miembros de la banda American Blues, Frank Beard en la batería y el bajista Dusty Hill.

La banda proviene de Texas, cuando los ya nombrados miembros Billy Gibbons y Frank Beard se juntaron (en ese tiempo ya se habían separado de sus respectivas bandas), y entonces Beard para completar la alineación sugiere a su ex compañero Dusty Hill. Ese trío posteriormente nunca se cambiaría, siendo una de las pocas (muy pocas) bandas de Rock que nunca han cambiado de miembros originales y mucho menos durante más de 40 años.

En 1970 otro legendario de la banda, el productor Bill Ham, que también sería el productor de la totalidad de las entregas de la banda, que produjo este disco llamado First Album, firmando un contrato con la discográfica London Records.

La fama crecía hasta que llegaron al punto más alto con este disco, el disco más exitoso de su discografía gracias a temas (acompañados fuertemente por sus videos) como Gimme All Your Lovin', Sharp Dressed Man, Tv dinners y Legs.

Al año siguiente, la compañía de Gillette le ofreció una millonaria oferta de un millón de dolares por afeitarse la barba... pero como todo buen rockero orgulloso la rechazaron.
